Two weeks ago Michelle and I had the opportunity to attend the Families Supporting Adoption (FSA) National Conference in Layton, Utah. Michelle and I are on the FSA board so we were quite busy helping out with the various functions of the conference. But we also were able to sit in on a few lectures and workshops. It was very interesting to learn more about other's experiences with adoption.
I attended a panel that told a complete adoption story. The panel included the birth parents, birth grandparents, adoptive parents, adoptive grandparents, and the caseworkers. Each of the panel members had an opportunity to answer questions and share their perspective on the adoption experience. I admire these birth parents (and grandparents) who made a very difficult decision with a tremendous amount of love. The more I learn about adoption the more I look forward to opening our lives to the wonderful birth families we will get to know and love when we adopt a little one.
